We publish the numbers because we got caught by them

Fleetwise exists because our founder ran a 40 van plumbing fleet and got a turn in invoice he could not have predicted from the contract he had signed. Everything published on this site comes from that.

Seventeen years on the other side of the desk

Marcus Delgado spent eleven years running the vehicles for a Dallas plumbing contractor before he ever sold a lease. Forty vans, three yards, and a return invoice at the end of one cycle that ran to five figures across the fleet, most of it for items nobody had explained: unsealed shelving holes, adhesive from a wrap a cheap shop had fitted, and tyres that were legal but below a threshold buried on page nine of a schedule.

None of those charges were wrong. They were all in the contract. They were simply invisible until the money was due, and by then there was no time left to fix anything at his own rates.

Fleetwise started in 2009 with one rule carried over from that experience: every number that will ever appear on an invoice goes in front of the customer before a contract exists. The residual percentage. The money factor. The cents per excess mile. The inch threshold on a dent and the thirty-seconds of an inch on a tyre. If we would charge for it at the end, we publish it at the start.

That is also why the pre-inspection happens 90 days out rather than on collection day, and why we tell you to go and get your own quote for the panel work. A turn in invoice should never be the first time somebody learns what the standard was.

Three things we will not do

Stated as negatives, because that is the honest way to write a values list.

  • We will not hide the money factorIt goes on every quote. Multiply it by 2400 and you have the rate. A lessor who will not show it is asking you to trust a rent charge you cannot check.
  • We will not sell you a band you do not needUnder-mileage is never refunded. If your routes say 15,000 we will not sell you 25,000, and if your routes say 22,000 we will tell you before you sign rather than at turn in.
  • We will not fit a cheap wrap or a self-tapped shelfBoth save money on the day and cost more at turn in. Our bay fits cast vinyl and bolt-through mounts only, even when a customer asks for the cheaper option.

Six people. On accounts of four vehicles and up, one of them is yours by name.

Every standard published on this site exists because he wanted the numbers in the open before signing, not after.
  • Priya Raghunathan, Head of fleet financePriya RaghunathanHead of fleet financeStructures the residual and money factor grid, and signs off every quote over 20 units.Priya spent nine years in captive finance on the lender side of commercial leases. She sets the residual grid quarterly and is the reason this site shows the money factor rather than hiding it inside a monthly payment.
  • Dwight Okafor, Senior account managerDwight OkaforSenior account managerNamed manager for trade fleets across Dallas, Garland and Mesquite.Dwight carries 60 accounts and knows the routes. If your crews are putting 28,000 miles a year on a van and you asked for the 15,000 band, he will tell you before you sign rather than at turn in.
  • Hana Vasquez, Upfit bay managerHana VasquezUpfit bay managerRuns the on-site upfit bay: shelving, racks, wraps and telematics.Hana's bay is on the same site as the yard, which is why a van can be delivered, shelved, wrapped and telematics-fitted without a transporter movement. She is also the person who insists on cast vinyl.
  • Terrence Boyd, Lead return inspectorTerrence BoydLead return inspectorGrades every unit at the 90 day pre-inspection and again at collection.Terrence wrote the wear and tear schedule published on this site. His pre-inspection is free and comes with a written estimate 90 days before the term ends, so nothing is a surprise.
  • Alina Petrova, Fleet operations coordinatorAlina PetrovaFleet operations coordinatorSchedules servicing, swaps and the weekly Fort Worth transporter run.Alina keeps the service calendar and the swap units. On accounts over eight vehicles she is the person guaranteeing a replacement inside 24 hours when a unit goes down.
