Six trades, six specifications
The vehicle is the easy part. What decides whether a fleet works is the spec in the back and the mileage band, and both of those come from the trade rather than the badge on the grille.
HVAC and plumbing
Parts-heavy, payload-limited work. The constraint is almost never cargo volume; it is the weight of what a tech carries before the van is over its rating.
What we spec
- Composite shelving instead of steel, saving 127 lb of payload
- Bulkhead with a window port so long stock loads through the cab
- Interior LED so a 6 pm call is not worked by phone torch
- Inverter and auxiliary battery for press tools and vacuum pumps
Mileage band. 15,000 miles a year covers most metro service routes

Electrical contracting
Long stock, heavy reels and a crew that travels together. Ladder access and conduit carry decide the spec before anything else does.
What we spec
- Drop-down ladder rack, gas strut assisted, rated to 500 lb
- Conduit carrier under the body rather than on the roof
- Reel shelf with a load rated floor anchor
- Upfitter switch bank feeding all accessory circuits, no loom splicing
Mileage band. 15,000 to 20,000 miles a year, depending on how far the crews travel

Food and beverage distribution
Cold chain runs long and starts early. Temperature logging and a standby shore line matter more than anything on the vehicle spec sheet.
What we spec
- Two zone refrigeration with independent set points
- Continuous temperature logging, exportable for audits
- 220V standby shore power and a yard socket survey before delivery
- Hygienic seamless liner with a hose-out floor and drain
Mileage band. 20,000 to 25,000 miles a year is normal on a metro cold chain route

Medical, lab and EMS support
Chain of custody and uptime. A vehicle off the road is a missed collection window, so we build the swap unit into the agreement rather than leaving it to chance.
What we spec
- Sealed, temperature controlled compartment for specimen transport
- Keyless access with per-driver coding and an audit trail
- Swap unit guaranteed within 24 hours on accounts over eight vehicles
- Telematics with route replay for chain of custody records
Mileage band. 20,000 miles a year, with overnight routes pushing higher

Landscaping and grounds
Crews, trailers and a punishing interior. The right answer is usually a crew van plus a tow-rated pickup, not two of either.
What we spec
- Crew van with vinyl seating and a hose-out floor
- Half ton pickup with an integrated brake controller and Class IV hitch
- Spray-in bedliner as standard, which is the cheapest wear insurance we sell
- Seasonal short term units to absorb the spring peak
Mileage band. 12,000 to 15,000 miles a year, with heavy seasonal variation

Facilities and property services
Presentable vehicles, predictable cost, no maintenance admin. Facilities directors buy the invoice as much as the van.
What we spec
- Scheduled maintenance included and billed on the lease invoice
- Mid size SUV or sedan for supervisors, cargo van for the trades team
- Cast vinyl wrap in building colours, removal included at turn in
- One consolidated monthly invoice across every unit and every site
Mileage band. 12,000 miles a year on campus-based routes

These six are the ones we see most. The method is the same for anything else: tell us what the crews carry, where they go and how far, and we will spec against that.
